About me...
Hmmm, where does one begin sharing about themselves? What we think of ourselves is affected by who's eyes we look through. I'm me, a wife, mother, sister, friend, and more. But how do I see myself? I'm learning to look through the eyes of One. Learning to look through His heart. When we do that, we experience a rest, a peace, and a joy in being Who He made us. When what He accomplished on the cross starts sinking into our hearts as well as our minds, a rest comes with it. When we realize why He did it, because He has this love for us that doesn't die or grow cold, even when we "blow it", that He actually enjoys being with us, we step into His rest. The more we see Him as He is, along with ourselves and others, the farther we travel on the path of rest. It's the rest that we come to when we realize we don't have to be something we aren't, that we don't have to "perform", that we can truly be honest and open with Him, that we can't carry the load ourselves and He never intended that we should. That's why I chose restquest for the name of this blog. I think we're all on this quest, and sometimes we've gotten derailed from it, until we meet up with the Truth. In Hebrews 4 it talks about the rest God has for believers. We're told to diligently enter into His rest. It also says the one who enters His rest, has also rested from their works. In that way we don't "do good stuff" in order to be accepted and loved, because He's already made us accepted in Him. Whatever good we do comes out of our response of love back to Him. It's a response to His heart & character, His love for us, instead of something we try to do to gain His love.
Okay, about me and some things I enjoy, not in any particular order. I enjoy creativity in many different forms. I enjoy true connection more than chit-chat, though chit-chat can be fun. I enjoy funny/quirky/real friends who love, but know none of us have it all together, knowing we're in process, on a journey. I'm impressed by people who really listen & I want to be more like that. I think to truly listen to someone is to give them a valuable gift. I enjoy watching people. I enjoy my husband, and our son and daughter-in-law :) I enjoy playing Superscrabble. I enjoy watching movies that speak to me, that God uses to show me something about His heart, and mine. And that doesn't mean it's a "Christian movie". I enjoy that He likes to do that, using different things to speak to us through, as well as through scripture which it must line up with. I enjoy my brothers & their families, though I don't see them often. I enjoy reading a good book. I enjoy watching an extrovert/Martha type if I'm not expected to be one. I enjoy when I'm able to encourage others. I enjoy God's delight in me. I enjoy hanging out with friends who understand that even if I'm not saying anything, there's a lot going on inside of me. Graham Cooke quoted someone who said introverts have a colorful inner life. I find that hilarious :) but true.
