Something I appreciate about Apple Tech Support
‹ Our long pony tails... | Main | A test posting ›
First off, they take your call seriously, and you don't stay on hold waiting forever like some places I've heard about. Every time I've called them, they've been very helpful, surprisingly so.
They know what they're doing but don't make me feel silly for not knowing. Does that make sense? They encourage instead of discourage. They don't seem to lack patience. I don't know if Apple screens out those who are impatient or who look down on those less technical than themselves, or whether they train them to be patient, kind, courteous, extremely helpful, efficient, and even encouraging. Or maybe it's a mixture of both. Regardless, I have to say it's a joy to deal with them. When I get off the phone I don't feel like a dunce. When I said I'd backed up my harddrive, but that it had been a month ago, they said that's better than many people. (I have Doug to thank for that, since he mentioned it would be good to do). I mean, the tech support person didn't have to comment positively on that. I even offered to have my husband explain the problem I was having with my computer since I'm not all that technical. He said I was doing fine. Do you know what that does for a person? Especially a person who's trying to learn things that don't necessarily come that easy to them? Or a person who is older than the average person asking for their help? And they didn't seem to be in a rush.
I hope Apple does very well. I hope they come up with even more creative and inovative products that are intuitive to use. I hope their stock does well. I hope it does really well, and surprises everyone. I hope their tech support people receive back 100 times the amount of kindness and consideration they show the people they help.
